Andrew has been working in residential addiction treatment for over a decade now. He figured out early in his own recovery journey, that helping others with addiction was a key component to maintaining a recovery lifestyle. Andrew is licensed and he is a certified alcohol and drug counselor. Prior to being in the addiction recovery field, he was working in the mental health field with high risk youth.
Andrew has a Masters of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and he currently is an adjunct professor for a Masters level program at Western Illinois University in Moline, IL. Andrew uses techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectal Behavioral Therapy, and uses Motivational Interviewing frequently with clients. He believes in a spiritual approach to recovery, starting with the simplicity of persons in recovery living consistent with their values. Andrew believes the ultimate goal for those in recovery is to maintain being a decent human being on a regular basis. He encourages clients to participate in yoga, meditation, exercise, and a healthy balanced diet.
