The Beginning

Where This Began

Top of the World Ranch was born from a deep familiarity with what works in addiction treatment and, more importantly, what does not. Our founder Mark Sadler grew up near this land. The connection to this place, to the rolling hills and open country of Illinois, was not accidental. It was the foundation of a vision for what treatment could look like if it started with the person instead of the protocol.

Nature, Spirituality, and Evidence-Based clinical care are not in conflict.

The inspiration for this program came in part from a sister facility in British Columbia, Canada — a program built on the same belief. They belong together. That combination is what we brought to Illinois.

That is where most programs fall short. They focus on sobriety as the finish line. We treat it as the starting point.

How We Have Grown

We started with residential care. Over time we opened outpatient programming, expanded our bed capacity, and built a virtual IOP that extends our reach to clients across the country who have stepped down from residential or PHP and need continued structured support.
Through every phase of growth, the thing that has not changed is the philosophy. If our clients do well, we do well. Everything else follows from that.
